The 35th Isadora Duncan Rally.  This special event was held today in Auckland with perfect weather.  Drivers and navigators in TRs, Sunbeams, Stags and a few others all enjoyed another excellent day out organised again by Jan & Marian Hendrix.  Jan usually has a few tricks up his sleeve and today's event was no exception much to the enjoyment of everyone.   The rally ended up at a good restaurant for lunch and the prize presentation.

Sunday 26th
North Island - Mid Winter Christmas Dinner.  Over the weekend of June 25th-June 26th about 20 hardy souls gathered in Taihape, the Gumboot Capital of New Zealand for another very enjoyable experience.  Arriving from Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui and Wellington on Saturday afternoon mostly in real TRs but also a few who shall remain nameless in a TR-BMW and the odd TR-Honda, the team gathered in the traditional spot under the Big Gumboot for a briefing from Barry & Lynda.

Major event of the afternoon was the traditional Taihape sport of "Gumboot Throwing" with some interesting results .. some of the gumboots made quite a bit of altitude but not so much distance!   Later everyone regrouped at the Gretna for some well earned refreshment before dinner.   On Sunday Barry & Lynda led the convoy on a scenic tour around this very hilly region before a farewell lunch under the DC3 at the Mangaweka International Airport Cafe.

Thanks Barry & Lynda for yet another very enjoyable weekend.

Waikato & Auckland Groups - Combined Sunday event:
On Sunday 18th July the Waikato Group organised a drive starting at Cambridge and then heading to Waharoa for coffee & lunch.   The Auckland Group was also invited and  a number of members from the big city set off south to meet with the Waikato contingent at Waharoa.  Altogether about 25 members and a couple of guests enjoyed a good lunch at the Kaimai Cheese Factory before heading off the the Firth Tower & Museum to learn a little (quite a lot?) about the history of the Piakao & Matamata area and the construction of the Kaimai railway tunnel.  Some hardy souls also finished the day at the nearby hot pools.

2010 North Island Mid-winter Christmas Dinner In spite of the weather about 20 keen members from all around the North Island - Auckland, Wellington, Napier, Wanganui gathered again at the Gumboot capital of New Zealand - Taihape for an early mid-winter Christmas Dinner. Saturday afternoon ended up at the Gretna Hotel as the rain poured down outside but the dinner that evening was great. On Sunday morning a burst of retail therapy at a nearby woollen outlet and then a drive to River Valley Lodge located in a valley on the Rangitikei River about 32km east of Taihape for an excellent lunch before setting off for home. ..

This looks like becoming an annual event.   A very special tanks to Barry & Lynda for arranging another enjoyable weekend.

16th May Auckland: On another pleasantly fine and sunny autumn Sunday a group of Auckland members ventured north to the Puhoi Pub for lunch is the sun. A classic in its own right the pub dates back to 1847 and is one of the oldest in the Auckland area and worth a visit at any time. Amongst quite a selection of classic cars, bikes and trikes the lunch, the afternoon and the refreshments were enjoyed by everyone.

Kiwi version of Antique Roadshow as Helen Keucke somehow manages to squeeze an antique chair into Alasdair's TR6 outside the Puhoi Pub.   Alisdair noted a sudden increase in enthusiasm for top down motoring!

Thanks to Cazna, Steve and the Waikato team for all their hard work that made this work so well.  .

Auckland: ATCC "Show & Shine" at St Heliers:  After a convoy from central Auckland 11 TRs joined 23 other Triumphs for this annual event held on Vellenoweth Green alongside the beach at St Heliers.   The weather, a bit doubtful early in the morning, improved during the day as forecast.  This event is showing a steady improvement in the overall standard of cars each year and attracts plenty of attention from the passing public.

One of the highlights was Ian Bradley's very tidy TR4 on the road again after a prolonged restoration.

Sunday 22nd 2009 Isadora Duncan Rally - Auckland. Even with not so wonderful weather almost 20 teams joined into this traditional event the Auckland Group organise and share with other clubs each year.  A great run with Jan's impeccable tulip diagrams to follow, a simple time trial and a few cunning tricks as well just to keep everyone on their toes. The event started from the Brigham Restaurant in West Auckland, navigated around quite a few roads that many of us had never seen before before returning to the same restaurant for an excellent lunch.  Jan and his team organised another excellent event that will leave everyone looking forward to the next one.  Thank you.

The unanimous chorus from all present was for this  weekend to be repeated somewhere in the Central North Island next year.   Thanks to Barry & Lynda for arranging such a fun weekend.

Auckland: Fish & Chips at the Beach. Braving the rain, low cloud and a miserable 8°C a good team from TR Register and ATCC ventured on a most enjoyable winter drive through north and north west Auckland.  After travelling over quite a few roads never visited before and stopping to look at all the model cars in Helensville the run ended up at Shelly Beach on the Kaipara Harbour for a great lunch. John Lee's TR6 & Richard Wooster's TR7 below shown alongside the Shelly Beach Wharf may tell the story about the weather although it had cleared somewhat by lunchtime!

Sunday 27th
Auckland: ATCC "Show & Shine" at St Heliers  The only two Triumphs to make it to the annual ATCC - TR Register Show & Shine at St Heliers for 2008.    This event has to date been blessed with good weather for every year it has been held but, alas, this year it was not to be so!  Normally Rangitoto Island would be conspicuously visible in the background but on this Sunday morning it was just drizzle and small whitecaps as the weather steadily deteriorated for the day.  Event cancelled but may be held towards the end of the year.  Watch the calendar for details........

April 2008
Sunday 20th
Auckland: TR Mystery Run:  An excellent run starting from Albany and touring through some very interesting country to the north of Auckland in the autumn sunshine.   Great views and even more spectacular were the several huge mansions scattered around the otherwise tree covered slopes.  A good number of cars participated including several members of Auckland Triumph Car Club.   The run ended at the Riverhead Tavern for a late lunch.   Located about 38km from the centre of the city this tavern was established in 1857 and, along with the adjacent area has a long and interesting history     Organised (including the diabolical questions!) by Jan Hendricks and Alisdair Keucke and enjoyed by all..

Well earned refreshments after the event at the Riverhead Tavern.  The tidal upper reaches of the Auckland Harbour are in the background
