TR Register (New Zealand) Inc
The TR
Register New Zealand Inc "National Weekend 2009" was held over
the extended weekend from Thursday 26th February - Sunday 1st March 2008 in
Cromwell, Central Otago in the South Island of New Zealand. Another unforgettable National Weekend. Again, almost perfect weather, quintessential company and all accompanied by some of the most spectacular scenery that this planet has to offer. Continuing our strengthening international ties this year Neil Revington and his family together with one of his senior staff and partner and two other visiting couples who joined us to share the occasion from England and USA. This year the weekend was extended to start on the Thursday evening giving a full day Friday program that included the concours competitions, briefing and technical sessions and an excellent drive. A five star class picnic lunch was severed enroute and the day ended up with the concours prize giving followed by an evening BBQ. Saturday brought another drive to an excellent wine tasting venue for a audio-visual presentation about local wines and wineries followed by another first class lunch. From there the drive proceeded to Cardrona and over the Crown Range and down the magic zigzag road to Arrowtown before returning to Cromwell via the spectacular Kawarau Gorge for the Saturday evening dinner. A little later start on Sunday morning for a drive through Clyde and several other Central Otago locations to another unforgettable lunch at Lauderdale Estate. The remainder of the trophies were presented and then it was time for everyone except those staying on for the 4 day tour to say farewell and head homewards. The Deep South Group deserve a very sincere vote of thanks for delivering an outstanding experience for everyone who attended. A very special thanks to the organising team of Trevor & Jane Payton, Keith & Beverley Allott Brian & Susan Hope and David & Christine Mehrtens and all the other Deep South members that supported them. You delivered another exemplary weekend that everyone will remember for a very long time. Altogether 11 TR2's, 7 TR3A's, 1 TR3B, 6 TR4's, 3 TR4A, 4 TR5's, 3 TR250's, 16 TR6's, 6 TR7's, and 1 TR8, were noted at this year's event. (58) . At the Sunday lunch at Lauderdale Estate. TRs parked amongst the trees whilst the drivers refuelled themselves (again). |

A special presentation to Robin Dicey of Mt Difficulty wines. He entertained everyone during breakfast on Saturday morning with a hilarious and very un-disappointing wine quiz and will probably never forgive some of us for our wine IQ (or lack of it!) |
