This annual event (world
famous in An opportunity to test
your relationship whilst enjoying a run through picturesque country roads
offering some of the best vantage points from which to view our fine city. Easy instructions, simple
clues and with just enough answers to even simpler questions gives you
something to think about without overtaxing your minds and will allow you to
enjoy the drive, your car, the company, the fine scenery and the anticipation
of the finish. An open fire and
hospitality as warm as the coals, awaits your arrival. Fine wines, beer, tea,
coffee, in fact just about anything you could wish for to slake your thirst,
along with a well- priced range of taste treats, from light snacks to
something more substantial, will be available. The venue for the after
match function is exclusively ours and will easily accommodate the large
number of participants we expect on the run, so bring along the kids and
invite your neighbours. Entry fee per car $2.00 |

Trial Series
(Multi Club Event) This is a navigational
trial with a difference – very well plotted and hard to get lost on, but
challenging to find all the answers. We competed in these
events last year and enjoyed them immensely and would recommend it to all who
are looking for a trialing challenge. The first event is
preceded by an instruction evening on Monday 7th October, which we suggest
you attend so that you understand the type of instructions for this event. |

A track day will be held on Monday 11th
December at Taupo on the new track. The new track is approximately 2.2km and has
many more corners than the old track Cost $100.00 per car. More details will follow, but anyone interested can contact Tony Bowman as below. If you wish to be included on the data base also contact Tony and he will keep you posted on this and future track days. These will be “fun” days as opposed to race days. Ie. Cars will go out onto the track at 5 – 7 second intervals and passing will be allowed on the straights only, and not under braking. There will be a limited number of cars on the track at any time. Day at Cooper Engineering: Mark and Margo Cooper of Cooper Engineering are
hosting a Classics weekend at their engineering business at Beachlands. This
will be a display of classic cars, motor cycles, tractors and stationary
engines. There will also be a sausage sizzle, raffle and other events, all to
raise money for the Beachlands local Sea Rescue, Fire Brigade and First Response
Team. Mark and Margo are members of the TR Register and it would be good to
support this event. We could get a team together and spend a pleasant day

TAUPO:
Track Day at Taupo. This time we will be
using track 4 which is 3.5km long and combines the original track plus the new
one. The cost is $100.00 per car and places are limited so those first to get
their money paid are first to get their place guaranteed. As there are now over
200 cars on the data base it pays not to procrastinate. At the last track day in
Taupo most cars did over 100km!! It also assists planning by getting your entry
in early. A list of the lucky drivers who have confirmed places will be posted

Multi Club Event - Maungatautari Wild Life Sanctuary: Meet Caltex Petrol Station at the Keith & Di Humphreys of the Daimler SP250 Club have invited us to join them on a multi club outing to the Maungatautari Wild Life Sanctuary, This is a mountain situated near Karapiro that has been completely fenced (some miles!) and all vermin have been eradicated. The bird life is rapidly multiplying, Kiwi are sitting on eggs in their natural habitat, the Takahe are relatively tame and as you walk through the forest you'll hear and see many of our native birds. The amount of work completed by the dedicated few is just mind boggling and one can only admire their total commitment. 2007 Concours Euro/Waiuku Heritage Festival The British Car movement is planning a display of British cars as part of the Waiuku Heritage Festival taking place in Waiuku in November. They plan to have 200 British cars parked in the main street as a static display, the street being decked out with Union Jacks etc. This promises to be a great event and is a good opportunity to promote our cars and the TR Register. There will be plenty of security so it will not be necessary to stay all day with our cars, there will be plenty of opportunity to wander around to look at other events. There is also a street sprint organized on the Saturday, and on Sunday there will be a Concours d’ Elegance held in the grounds of Lotus Cars. If you would like to display your TR in this
event or to take part in some of the other events. It would be good to have at
least 6 TRs, preferably representative of the different body types |

Great Northwestern Run: The Auckland Triumph Car Club will be holding a run
on roads north of the harbour bridge. This run will start from Fred Taylor
Park (the soccer grounds – next to Lendich Contractors) which is on state
highway 16 approximately 2km north of the Westgate Shopping Centre on the left
hand side of the road. The run will finish at a location where you can have
lunch or a coffee etc.
It is essentially a fun run around some roads
with which, hopefully, you will not be quite as familiar as with the roads of
Franklin and the Hunuas. We will NOT be passing Ardmore airfield! There will be
something for everyone with a mixture of long straights and some nice twisty
bits. You will be given a set of directions to follow with things to look out
for along the way, so at least one passenger will be helpful. |

Auckland: Le Mans Team Classic at Pukekohe: Organised by TACCOC & The MG Car Club with a new format for 2008, a Classic Trial relay is being run as well as the traditional Le Mans Relay Race and scratch races for Historics. The Combined Trial is for teams of three road-going Classic cars, ideally from a single marque, with a Pukekohe lap-time no faster than 1:25min. The event will commence with a mock Le Mans start, before the first of three 30-minute trial sessions. Further details can be found on the TACCOC web site, with full regulations and entry forms in the documents section. As before, the Le Mans Relay Race will feature
Classic Saloons plus Sports & GT's, with full eligibility details shown in
the Supplementary Regulations. The event runs for 2 hours or 100 laps (whichever
comes first) with each of the three drivers needing to complete a minimum of 25
laps. All cars entering the relay race event or Historic races must have a
Certificate of Description. |

always was to be from somewhere to somewhere and, with a wee bit of planning,
this has now been narrowed down to starting at the Manurewa Botanical Gardens and finishing at a somewhere that I know and you have to find out!
A run of about 1.5 - 2.0 hours over quite a few roads (all sealed) to the south east of
Auckland that it is very likely you have never seen before (and, OK,
some you have seen too) together with some special elevated views. The
finish (the somewhere you have to find .. but I promise it will be very easy ...
no straight line navigation etc) will be at a warm restaurant that offers a good

Jan and Marian Hendrix (henceforth known as the plotters) came from Holland 20 years ago where the tulip is the national flower, so it is a strong possibility that there will be a tulip theme to this run. 2008 Concours Euro/Waiuku Heritage Festival The British Car movement is planning a display of British cars as part of the Waiuku Heritage Festival taking place in Waiuku in November. They plan to have 200 British cars parked in the main street as a static display, the street being decked out with Union Jacks etc. This promises to be a great event and is a good opportunity to promote our cars and the TR Register. There will be plenty of security so it will not be necessary to stay all day with our cars, there will be plenty of opportunity to wander around to look at other events. There is also a street sprint organized on the Saturday, and on Sunday there will be a Concours d’ Elegance held in the grounds of Lotus Cars. If you would like to display your TR in this
event or to take part in some of the other events. It would be good to have at
least 6 TRs, preferably representative of the different body types |

Classics Day at Cooper Engineering: Mark and Margo Cooper of Cooper
Engineering are hosting a Classics weekend at their engineering business at
Beachlands. This will be a display of classic cars, motor cycles, tractors and
stationary engines. The day includes a demonstration by Mothers Car Cleaning
Products on caring for your cars paintwork etc. There is over $1000 of raffle
prizes to be won. The day will finish with a tour around Beachlands and a visit
to a private car collection for participants displaying cars on the day. All
funds raised go to Beachlands local emergency services. Beachlands School Gala
is also on so there will be plenty to do for small kids and big kids. If you

invited TRR members to join them on a visit to Franklin Engineering. Meet at the BP Service Centre on the Southern Motorway just south of Papakura at 9.30am to drive in convoy to Pukekohe to Franklin Engineering Ltd, (incorporating the former Johnson’s Piston Rings) The company carries out varied repairs, machining and rebuilds of engines for historical and classic cars as well as most other types of engines.
