A final message from Bernard
and the Canterbury team:
All too soon "The Nelson
Nationals" have been and gone. But what a TRmendous Weekend! It was TR
Heaven. Of course the Weekend was great because of all the TRers who were there
and the Organising Committee thanks everyone whose support meant that we all had
such a wonderful time.
We hope all
TRavellers arrived home safe and sound. Thanks to all who were able to be part
of "The Nelson Nationals".
Keep an eye out for
details of the 2008 National Weekend.

Update (19 February
2007) Woops
sorry there was an error in the last note we sent you. The thought of 98 Octane
fuel went to the Area Steward's head and he misunderstood the word from our
troops on the ground in Nelson. There is NO 98 fuel
available in Nelson. The service stations listed are outlets close to the
starting point for the Saturday tour.
Update:
A message from the Organising Committee.(15 February 2007)
TRmendous
news! 118 people and 57 TRs will be in Nelson for National Weekend 2007.
TRuly awesome! A list of those taking part has been posted to everyone who has
registered so look out for it in your mailbox. The Organisers wish everyone a
safe and enjoyable journey to "The Nelson Nationals" - we are looking
forward to seeing you.
Tip for
the week.
Time to get the shorts and the sun
tan lotion packed the top down on the TR and get ready to head for Nelson.
Update:
A message from the Organising Committee.(31 Jan 2007)
Wow what a
response, "The Nelson Nationals" are going to be like TR Heaven! And
we are delighted to announce that a speaker with a great story to tell will
entertain us after dinner on Saturday night. There is still time to register for
"The Nelson Nationals", but please note to enable us to meet the
commitment we have given to caterers and to make sure we have all other
arrangements in place we will be closing registrations on Wednesday 14 February
2007.
And keep watching
this site.
Tip for
the week.
Its time to make sure the TRusty TR is all ready for the TRip to Nelson!
Update:
Message from Bernard (25 Jan 2007)
The organisers on "The Nelson Nationals" are delighted with the
response. It's going to be a TRuly TRemendous TR weekend! We are looking forward
to seeing everyone in Nelson.
If you are contemplating attending but haven't
registered please do so now.
We need to finalise arrangements very soon so we
need to be sure we know everyone who is coming. As one of our venues is now
getting close to full capacity we have to reserve the right to exercise a
"first in first served" policy.
Anyone wishing to attend must register by
completing and returning the official entry form and sending it and payment to
the Organisers before the event.
There may be some confusion regarding the Friday
night program and if so it is regretted. The term "Registration" which
is traditionally used for National Weekends (and many other similar events)
refers to the time when those who have already registered check in. It is not a
time at which people may register to attend. Obviously for planning purposes we
need registrations in advance.
Tip for the
week.
If you want to attend "The Nelson Nationals"
but haven't registered do so now. Tomorrow may be too late...!
Update:
Message from Bernard (22 Jan 2007)
Acknowledgments
have now been sent to everyone who has registered for "The Nelson
Nationals". If you have sent a registration form but not received an
acknowledgment, please contact the Organisers asap. (Indications are that
105 people in 53 TR's have registered to date)
Update:
Some good news and some bad news Jan 2007:
On the positive side Bernard reports that attendance is expected to
top 100 possibly a first for a National Weekend. However some
unfortunate news from UK as Bill Piggott has had to cancel his journey to NZ
this year but still hopes to be able to join us some time in the future.
Update from Bernard
& the team, December 2006:
Indications are that this will be a
great event as almost 80 people have booked accommodation at Nelson. You
should have received the registration forms by now so return these as quickly as
possible. The organisers have been busy planning the weekend's
events so that everyone can see some of the great scenery around the Nelson area.
(Check "Deep South Tour" below also)
Update from Bernard
& the team, 26 November 2006:
The Leisure Lodge is now fully booked for
the weekend. However accommodation is still available at Admirals Motor
Inn which is almost next door. Ph 0800 745755
www.admiralsmotorinn.co.nz
Update from Bernard
& the team, 20 November 2006:
We are delighted with the response. In fact bookings have exceeded the capacity
of the dinning room we had planned to use so we have changed our plans for
Friday and Saturday nights.
Friday evening, after registration and a time to meet with everyone else for a
few drinks, snacks and some good conversation, will be an opportunity to do your own thing which will give those who want to, a
chance to see a little of Nelson and maybe sample the delights on offer at one
of many great restaurants. Alternatively it will be an opportunity for a quiet
evening to prepare for the weekend ahead.
Either
way better not make it a late night because we have to make a fairly early start
on Saturday for a tour which will take us across the iconic Takaka Hill into
Golden
Bay
. Easy to follow instructions will guide us there and back.
We’ll be providing morning tea, which can be consumed along the way, and there
will be time to stop and take in some awesome scenery. Judging will take place
during the lunch stop at Takaka.
On Saturday night we’ll enjoy dinner at the Maitai Club, present prizes and be
entertained by our guest, world-renowned TR authority, Bill Piggott.
There
will be a chance for a bit of a sleep in on Sunday before we head off on a quick
sightseeing tour which will end at the famous
Wearable
Arts
Museum
and Classic Car Collection.
Organised activities will conclude before lunch allowing those who need to head
home early a chance to do so. Those
staying on may like to visit other local attractions or join a group going to
Founders
Park
.
